Medicare and Social Security Disability

Medigap plans are available to Idaho residents on Medicare and Social Security Disability
Why should you care about this? Because if you select the right Medigap plan it will pay all or nearly all of your left over Medicare-covered health care costs. This means you can budget with confidence health care. You only have one ‘open enrollment period’ to join a Medigap plan. Learn about these here. Call us if you have questions.
The benefits of choosing a Medigap plan
With a Medigap plan you also have a choice of any doctor/hospital in the US that ‘accepts assignment’. This means the provider accepts the Medicare payment for the services they provide to people enrolled in Medicare. No more networks to deal with nor seeking permission from an insurance company to get their approval for the Medicare-approved health care your doctor recommends. Look into Medigap Plan F, a Medigap Plan G, or a Medigap Plan N if you want a plan that covers all/most all of the left over costs not paid by Part A and B.
You have a choice of 20+ ‘stand alone’ prescription drug plans when you enroll in a Medigap plan. We like having choices and the ability to compare different plans. Learn more about Idaho Medicare Prescription Drug plans.
When you turn 65 lower your monthly premium by changing plans/insurance companies
Be aware you can lower your monthly premium when you turn 65. You can re-enroll in the same plan or change plans (or insurance companies) to get this done. What is behind this? The Idaho Legislature gave insurance companies the right to bump their Medigap monthly premiums by up to 50% for pre 65 SSDI and Medicare people. When you turn 65, you will have the same one-time open enrollment period to enroll in the same or different Medigap plan and get the rates (lower) available at that time.
